32671499The Pawn by Skye Warren.

The one i’ll be delving into first. Seen advertised as January ‘Book of the Month’ in the Dark Erotica group on Goodreads. This is the group that chose Dark Notes, Pennies, I see You plus many more fantastic reads that had me hooked, so i know to count on them for a juicy read. Recommended you join them if you’re on Goodreads (Moderated by @AprilMarie4u / @Countrygalssexy)

Synopsis: The price of survival…

Gabriel Miller swept into my life like a storm. He tore down my father with cold retribution, leaving him penniless in a hospital bed. I quit my private all-girl’s college to take care of the only family I have left.

There’s one way to save our house, one thing I have left of value.

My virginity.

A forbidden auction…

Gabriel appears at every turn. He seems to take pleasure in watching me fall. Other times he’s the only kindness in a brutal underworld.

Except he’s playing a deeper game than I know. Every move brings us together, every secret rips us apart. And when the final piece is played, only one of us can be left standing.

Winter Halo (Outcast #2) by Keri Arthur.

I’ve been waiting for this to be released (6th December 2016) after reading the first book in the series: City of Light, in May. You can find the review for that here.

Unlike the majority of books featured here, there’s no kink and it’s not dark, but it does have a heroine i liked enough to remember. I can’t read dark stories back-to-back, so i love to throw in reads that focus on action etc. Let’s see how this one plays out.

Synopsis: When the bombs that stopped the species war tore holes in the veil between worlds, they allowed entry to the Others. Now, a hundred years later, humans and shifters alike live in artificially lit cities designed to keep the darkness at bay….

The humanoid supersoldiers known as the déchet were almost eradicated by the war. Ever since, Tiger has tried to live her life in peace in hiding. But in the wake of her discovery that Central City’s children are being kidnapped and experimented on, Tiger’s conscience won’t let her look the other way.

The key to saving them lies within the walls of a pharmaceutical company called Winter Halo. But as she learns more about the facility, Tiger’s mission is derailed by a complication: Winter Halo’s female security guards are being systematically attacked by an unknown force.

Now Tiger must summon all her gifts to stop those responsible for both atrocities—no matter the cost to herself…

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson #1) by Patricia Briggs.

This was first published back in 2006, but I think i saw one of her books featured in the Goodreads Choice Awards 2016 that led to me adding this… I may be wrong, but i’m sure i did. Anyway, Patricia Briggs has been an author’s name i’ve heard for a while but have yet to read any of her work. I finished 2016 reaching for more Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance books again and thus Moon Called, erm… well, called.  Also, coyote shifter? Gremlin? I have to check this out.

Synopsis: Mercedes “Mercy” Thompson is a talented Volkswagen mechanic living in the Tri-Cities area of Washington.

She also happens to be a walker, a magical being with the power to shift into a coyote at will. Mercy’s next-door neighbour is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she’s fixing a bus for a vampire.

This is the world of Mercy Thompson, one that looks a lot like ours but is populated by those things that go bump in the night. And Mercy’s connection to those things is about to get her into some serious hot water…

Shadow Game (Ghostwalker #1) by Christine Feehan

I haven’t read anything by Feehan since a few books into her Dark Carpathians series. Round about the same time i was reading that, i was also reading Larissa Ione’s Demonica series & J.R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series etc, so i think that’s why my interest fizzled out. Too many vamps fighting for brain-space. I saw this in the library today and thought i’d give it a go. Free and easy to return = no harm no foul.

Synopsis: The classified experiment is the brainchild of renowned scientist Peter Whitney and his brilliant daughter, Lily.

Created to enhance the psychic abilities of an elite squadron, it can transform their natural mental powers into a unique military weapon. But something goes wrong.

In the isolated underground labs, the men have been dying-victims of bizarre accidents. Captain Ryland Miller knows he is next. When Dr. Whitney himself is murdered, Ryland has only one person left to trust: the beautiful Lily.

Possessed of an uncanny sixth sense herself, Lily shares Ryland’s every new fear, every betrayal, every growing suspicion, and every passionate beat of the heart. Together, they will be drawn deeper into the labyrinth of her father’s past and closer to a secret that someone would kill to keep hidden.

I’m looking forward to delving into them, although it has to be said, i can’t attach the Cover Crush tag to any of these books/ editions.

Have you read any of them? You know the drill, check out Twitter for updates where i usually vent, squeal etc about current books i’m reading.

No spoilers!
