Beautiful Disaster is no hearts and flowers tale, no.
Preppy good girl meets bad-ass boy, they fall in love and boom- a HEA?
Not quite. The general conception sounds black and white but there are layers to this story, surprises; some good and some bad, but any and all aid in creating the fast pace that leaves the reader unable to put the book down. Seriously.

For me the strength in the novel lies with the charming characters McGuire has created and the chemistry between the main two, Travis and Abby, aka Pigeon. Back and forth, up and down, hec in spirals, their journey isn’t an easy one! The pair begin as friends, –reluctantly on Abby’s part, at first– and it’s not long before an undeniably intense bond begins to form. With the predicaments they face, more often than not caused by their own choices, you’re left questioning time and time again if they’ll receive their HEA together as a couple, or as loyal best friends…

Readers may find some parts of the story a little OTT. For example, Travis and Abby get little crazy. I mean there’s an intense relationship and there’s an obsessive, intense relationship. The duo have the latter. But is it really a shocker for first time love to be full on and consuming? I don’t think so. Anyway, that said, it doesn’t derail the enjoyment to be had from the story; nor the characters progression in terms of developing. I’m a fan of dark erotica, so it was a pleasant surprise to have a YA/ New Adult romance have some grit about it.

I thought it was romantic, dramatic, sweet and overall just plain exciting! I’m looking forward to reading more of the author’s work.
